Our Mission

SheaMoisture harnesses the power of entrepreneurship to close the $11 trillion US racial wealth gap and create healthy, thriving communities globally.

Built on the core belief that every person should be able to live with the dignity, respect, and freedom that comes from true economic independence, our business model directly reinvests in economic opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs.

Every SheaMoisture purchase creates new possibilities by helping to provide access to entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as resources to enrich lives, families, and businesses globally.

$1M Fund

SheaMoisture has committed, under its long-established Community Commerce business model, $1 million annually in direct funding to support small, Black-owned businesses. The Fund stands ready to serve its community where they are most underserved.

SheaMoisture intends to show the power of small/black-owned businesses to help communities, while also hoping to minimize the financial disruptions that many are experiencing from the current global crisis.

The Fund is solely powered by SheaMoisture purchases, proving that our community can do good while feeling and looking good at the same time. We pledge to give back $1 Million in direct funding annually to where our community is most underserved. This is Community Commerce and their equity in the business.

Our Roots

SheaMoisture is the legacy of Sofi Tucker, a pioneering mother of four and entrepreneur, who sold Shea Butter, African Black Soap and homemade beauty preparations in Sierra Leone in 1912. We honor her vision by continuing to formulate with Shea Butter handcrafted by women in Africa. With every purchase you show support of our mission to reinvest back in our communities. To date, you have helped us fund millions in education, healthcare, safety, and fair wages. Your proceeds are developing critical community infrastructure such as a safer work environment, access to healthcare, and piped water that boosts production capacity and quality.
